The Unique Wonders of 1% Milk

We all know that dairy milk is naturally packed with essential nutrients including beneficial fats and vitamins, and there’s plenty of arguments around which type of milk is best. You’ll be familiar with whole, skimmed and semi skimmed, but let’s not forget the 1%.

There’s a special and little known bottle of dairy goodness in our milk diversity range, and one you might not have heard about for a while. The 1% milk, also known as low fat milk, is perceived as a healthy and tasty option for hot drinks, cooking, breakfasts, cappuccinos. and just about anything you’d use your typical chosen milk for.

Made by removing the natural fat from whole milk, much like skimmed, it’s lower in fat and calories, yet still wholesomely rich in nutrients, striking a tasty balance between the two. A true gem of milk diversity, it really benefits from the best of both worlds – lower in fat but with plenty of the creaminess and full flavour of the good old-fashioned semi-skimmed.

As is clear from the name, 1% milk contains only 1% milk fat. Compare this to skimmed milk’s typical 0.5% fat, semi-skimmed’s 1.7% and whole milk’s 3.25%, you can start to understand the appealing balance the 1%’s got going on.

Sadly, when whole milk fell out of popularity with the belief that its higher saturated fat content made it an unhealthy option, the 1% milk took a hit alongside it. While scientists have changed their minds over time as to what’s healthy and what’s not, there’s no doubt that the 1% milk still has its place as a great in-between, and it’s one we’d never dream of losing.

A great option for different tastes and dietary requirements, the 1% milk is a special and valued bottle on our floats. Why not try it out today?
