Warm and Gut-Friendly Beverages to Try

The winter cold might not have come into full swing yet, but the days are getting shorter, and the only thing that will get you through the office commute is a warm and gut-friendly beverage. We’ve chosen our top 3 drinks, which are great alternatives to your morning or afternoon coffee.

Golden Turmeric Latte with Oat Milk Alternative

A gold cup of goodness. A turmeric latte with oat milk alternative is not only an anti-inflammatory, but it is also rich in antioxidants to help you lower your risk of infections and disease, helps with digestion and lowers cholesterol levels. In a saucepan over gentle heat, whisk oat milk, a ¼ tsp of ground turmeric, ground cinnamon, ground ginger, ½ tsp of vanilla extract and 1 tsp of maple syrup. Ideally, with an electric milk frother. Once hot, pour into a mug with a dash of cinnamon on top for serving.

The active component in turmeric, curcumin, has also been seen to boost mood. So grab a mug of this delicious, comforting drink and start your morning the right way.

Spice Apple and Plant Milk Cider

Cosy season has arrived, and before the mulled wine comes out, it’s spiced apple cider time. Our easy recipe is made from apples and spices, but with a twist.

To make this perfect autumn beverage, first add your fresh apples, cloves, cinnamon sticks, nutmeg and star anise to a large pot with half a pot of water. Bring to the boil, then let it simmer for an hour. Strain out the leftover chunks and add a tablespoon of maple syrup. Stir in the splash of vegan milk for a creamy and comforting spin on a traditional cider. It is indulgent and wholesome, ideal for a chilly evening.

Cocoa and Cinnamon Vegan Hot Chocolate

If you’re looking to spice up your classic vegan hot chocolate, then add a hint of cinnamon with our oat or soya milk alternatives for a rich, dairy-free treat. Add your favourite vegan whipped cream and a dust of cinnamon powder to complete the autumnal beverage.

Refreshing and Digestive Smoothies

A daily tough decision is what to have for breakfast, but fear not, we have the best solution here. Our refreshing and digestive smoothies are the ultimate gut-friendly start to the day.

Berry and Oat Milk Alternative Gut-Friendly Smoothie

Despite being slightly out of season, one of the best types of oat milk smoothies are when it’s blended with a mix of berries — so it’s great to have frozen ones! Blend a few handfuls of your favourite frozen berries, a large splash of oat milk alternative and a few tablespoons of dairy free vanilla yoghurt. Once at your perfect consistency, add chia seeds, flaxseeds and a squeeze of agave syrup for extra fibre and a dash of sweetness. Enjoy a bright glass of antioxidants.

Spiced Pumpkin and Oat Milk Alternative Smoothie

PSL (Pumpkin Spiced Latte) is the acronym of autumn, so why not make it in your favourite smoothie? Blend your roasted pumpkin, banana and a sprinkle of nutmeg together. Slowly blend in oat drink until your desired consistency, maybe add a few cubes of ice. A subtly sweet drink that is rich in fibre and flavour.

Plant-Based Dessert Drinks

Vegan milk products can be the base of many vegan dessert drinks. If you like your creamy and comforting sweet treats to be drinkable, they can make for perfect cosy evenings.

Cinnamon Almond Milk Latte

Simmer almond milk alternative with a cinnamon stick, nutmeg, and vanilla over a low heat. Slowly add a tablespoon of almond butter (if you have it) and a squeeze of maple syrup. Whisk until all combined.

Vanilla and Nut Milk Alternative ‘Affogato’

This is the creamy coffee treat you’ve been waiting for. Pour a splash of almond milk alternative (or any other nut milk substitute) into a large mug and add a large scoop of vegan vanilla ice cream. Once you’ve brewed a shot of espresso, pour it directly over the ice cream in the mug. Sprinkle with a dash of cinnamon and some chopped nuts for an extra crunch.

Tips for Making Plant-Based Wellness Drinks

If you’re looking to trial different plant-based wellness drinks with our eco-friendly products, then we have a few tricks and tips for you to make it as easy as possible.

Tip 1:

  • Experiment with different vegan milk products. Oat milk recipes are naturally creamy, whereas almond milk has the subtle nuttiness that gives it an extra taste. Find the one that works best with each recipe.

Tip 2:

  • Warm the hot drinks slowly. Many vegan milks might curdle if heated too fast, leaving a mess and ruining your plant-based drink. Low, slow with a consistent stir gives the best results.

Tip 3:

  • Customise the recipe for extra wellness. Whether you want to add a dash of ginger, cinnamon, chia seeds or nuts, each extra ingredient will enhance the drink and offer more nutrition.
