Flourless Heart-Shaped Brownies Recipe

What you'll need

  • 225g dark chocolate (minimum 70% cocoa solids)
  • 225g unsalted butter
  • 200g caster sugar
  • 2tsp vanilla extract
  • 150g ground almonds
  • 3 large free-range eggs, beaten

How to make

  1. Preheat the oven to 170C/325F and line a 9x9 inch square baking tin with parchment paper.
  2. Melt the chocolate and butter gently over a low heat in a heavy-based saucepan.
  3. Pour the chocolate mixture into another bowl, then mix in the vanilla extract and sugar. Leave to cool a little.
  4. Beat the eggs in a small bowl, then add them to the chocolate mixture along with the ground almonds.
  5. Pour the batter into your prepared baking tin, then bake in the oven for 25 to 30 minutes until firm to the touch.
  6. Refrigerate overnight then use a heart cutter to cut hearts out of the baked brownie. Serve alone, or with cream or ice cream.
