Days Brewing Co: 100% Beer, 0% Alcohol

Believing that beer is ‘the world’s oldest social network,’ Days founders Mike and Duncan wanted to find a new way to bring people together without the side effects of those ‘beer moments.’ They came up with the idea of a ‘Beer for Doing,’ one that you can enjoy more often and on more occasions, while really embracing the day.

Proud to be Scottish and building on their country’s rich brewing history, they set out to source the very best local ingredients. The journey started from the Lammermuir hills, where the water is soft, over to Edinburgh, where premium malt barley grows. It’s common in the alcohol-free drinks industry to use harsh de-alcoholisation treatments which can interfere with the flavour of the ingredients, but Mike and Duncan were no more likely to compromise on taste as they were the 0%. After some painstaking testing, they perfected a unique brewing process specifically designed to never produce alcohol or spoil the flavours of the pale ales and lagers they were creating.

While flavour and the 0% were key, it was equally important to Duncan and Mike to use their business as a force for good. One of their earliest initiatives was Days Duty, which sees them donate 2% of their sales to mental health charities, mirroring the 2% tax that alcohol companies pay the government. They later partnered with the Wave Project to fund more mental health initiatives, and they’re now proudly B Corp certified, a sure sign that they meet some of the highest standards of social and environmental performance.

Now recognised as the number one ranked 0% beer in the UK after three short years, it’s fair to say Days have really made their mark. No matter what you’ve got planned for your day, you can raise a happy toast with Days.
