Milkman of the Year 2015!

A milkman who has delivered over five million pints of milk and seen almost 6000 sunrises has been crowned 'Milkman of the Year' by milk&more customers after being recognised for going above and beyond his normal duty. Neil Garner, 56, who has been delivering milk for the last 21 years, gets up at midnight to start his working day and regularly helps elderly customers with small household jobs. Last year, he even stopped a house from going up in flames.

The annual competition aims highlight what milkmen do for their local communities, often delivering before most of us are out of bed! Many aren’t aware that this fantastic British tradition still exists.

Neil says: "Winning this award is a real privilege and I'm over the moon about it. It's great to be recognised for doing the job I love. I have the world to myself when it's that early in the morning and I love it. I’d like to thank my customers for voting for me – it’s a real honour."

Chris Munn, Head of Marketing comments : "On behalf of milk&more, I’d like to congratulate Neil on winning Milkman of The Year. The work Neil does for customers is exactly what we strive for and helping his customers and the local community shows just how important this role is. All of our milkmen and women aim to provide a great, reliable service and to be a valuable part of the community."

Our Hero of the Month!

Douglas Richards, a Franchisee at Chadwell Heath depot was a real hero this month, here is his account of what happened…

Douggie was doing his round one Saturday when he noticed that milk he’d delivered on Thursday hadn’t been taken in. He knew the customer, Mrs Vickery, was elderly and always took in her milk and there was no notification of her being away. Concerned for her safety Douggie went to a neighbour to raise the alarm.

They managed to locate someone with a key to the property, and when they entered the house they found Mrs Vickery barely conscious, they called for an ambulance and she was taken to hospital.

Friends of Mrs Vickery wrote a letter to the depot thanking Douggie for “saving their friends life”…. A true hero.
